Power banks or power packs have become an absolute must-have for the modern day carp angler, they can be used to charge phones, laptops ipads but also for all your fishing items too like bait boats, alarms, lights.
Its really important you have some power when your fishing, but the main thing is something that will be built to withstand being dropped, weatherproof and easily compacted away for when your moving around the lake.
If you like me you have gone through endless £20 cheap amazon power banks and they just dont stand up to the job, they dont give you enough power, one good charge for your phone and your done, if your serious about fishing then that means putting in the hours on the bank and you need something thats going to keep your going for a few days and able to charge muiltipul items.
Read below for a comparrisioon into the best fishing portable power packs there are currently on the market
Comparison Fishing Power Bank
We have created a small comparison of our best picks of carp fishing power banks
1. RidgeMonkey Vault C-Smart Wireless Power Pack 42150mAh Review
RidgeMonkey Vault C-Smart Wireless Power Pack 42150mAh
Ridgemonkey has just released the all-new Vault Power Pack in a huge 42150mAh capacity, this power pack has been built to keep you charged up on the bank for 3-5 days, while we have been testing it, it has managed to keep me fully charged from a Ipad, Iphone and lights for 3 nights and still had plenty left in, this thing really is the best portable power bank you can find at the moment and not just in fishing, you will struggel to find a better power pack on the market.
There are three different models in the range these are listed below, I have also added a little estimated time frame of how long you can expect each power bank to last, this should give you a great indication how the one you should purchase, these are just estimates on someone charging small items like your phone, tablet, headtorch ext.
- 42150mAh – 3-5 nights fishing
- 77850mAh – 1 weeks fishing
- 26950mAh – -1-3 days fishing
The brand new 2020 model has been fitted with Qi wireless technoligy, you can simply place your compatible phone on the back of the pack for instant charging, while this is a great feature its not one I used a lot while testing due to the vault power pack often being stored under or down the side of my chair and bed so a wire was a lot easier to connect but I am sure a lot of anglers will make use of this feature.
The Ridgemonkey Vault has a few differant connections from superfast USB-C Power Delivery, dual 3A USB-A ports and a 12V DC output, this means you can charge almost everything, from Laptops to power pumps and bait boats, this thing really gives you altimute power on the bank.
The ridgemoney power pack will roughly take 6 hours to charge from empty to full and they do say it will last two weeks but this depends how much you are using it, if you are charging laptops then you are going to run it down a lot quicker but I would say 70% of all people would make the vault last at least a week

2. Fox Halo 48K Power Pack
Fox Halo 48K Power Pack
Coming in at second is the fox Halo 48k power pack, while this one is very similar to the ridgemonkey one in terms of power and price, while testing we thought the ridgemoney power vault lasted a little longer and was that little bit lighter and as these are not the lightest of things to keep in your tackle bag, every gram helps.
The Halo from Fox comes in two sizes, the 48K & 96K, these should last someone fishing from 3-5 days and the larger one at 5-7 days.
A nice little featutre we did like is that the fox has a built in light on the side of the pack, its bright and can come in useful but isnt really needed but is good if your ever stuck trying to find your headtorch.
